Kawasaki Ninja 650R to be launched soon !!

Its confirmed: Kawasaki Ninja 650R teaser is on at Bajajs Probiking site..

Nothing much is available officially except a teaser which definitely shows the shots of the Kawasaki Ninja 650R (name in US)/ER-6f (name in UK).

Specs wise the Kawasaki Ninja 650R would compete bang on with the GT650R, producing near identical peak power and peak torque numbers. The Hyosung GT650R has already been priced at 4.75 lakhs (ex-showroom Delhi), so what will be interesting now would be the price of the Ninja 650R.

And yes, even the Ninja 650R is NOT A SUPERBIKE..!!

Harley Davidson bookings to start on 20th April across 5 cities

Harley Davidson to start booking across 5 cities in India..

Harley Davidson Dealers in India

The Iconic Harley Davidson brand would soon take bookings (of its 12 models for India) starting from April 20th. Deliveries are slated to start from June 2010.

5 dealers across 5 cities (one in each city) in India have been finally shortlisted to be worthy enough to sell the Harley Davidson models. The 5 cities are:

[1] Chandigarh
[2] New Delhi
[3] Mumbai
[4] Hyderabad
[5] Bengaluru (Sigh.. I have finally decided to let go of its ealier trendy and cool sounding Bangalore name)

Well chosen cities Id say, these 5 cities would have most of the rich boys.. err.. men who would want to get associated with the bad boy image that the Harley Davidson motorcycles come with.. and yes, would definitely have deep(er) pockets.

Harley Davidson India seems to have carefully chosen its intial 5 dealers in India. Each dealer has a full page on them on the Harley Davidson India website.

I get a feeling that the prospective owners of Harley models in India are going to be treated like royalty.

Like 50 Cents had said, "Get Rich or Die Tryin"

KAWASAKI NINJA 300R EXPECTED TO LAUNCH ON MAY 2013

Recently PowerDrift spotted the bike Ninja 300R in Pune. There were rumors that Bajaj, which is looking after Kawasakis Indian operations, might replace the existing Ninja 250R with 2013 Kawasaki Ninja 300R. But we are expecting these two to be sold alongside. While Ninja 250R will continue to compete with Honda CBR250R and Hyosung GT250R, Ninja 300R will give competition to the upcoming KTM Duke 390 and its full faired sibling.

The bike uses a new chassis and its frame uses main pipes made from high-tensile steel tubing that is 150% more rigid than the tubes in the previous Ninja 250R’s frame. The added rigidity provides much better chassis response and improved steering precision and feel. The bike looks a lot like Ninja 250R and adopt most of the design cues from its elder siblings.

A trusted source also informed us that Ninja 300R is being tested at Vehicle Research and Development Establishment (VRDE) and also the bike has been through the ARAI tests. Bajaj seems full prepared and so we can expect it anytime around May. The bike will be assembled at Bajajs Chakan plant and as the bike will follow the CKD route.

KTM RC25 IS EXPECTED TO LAUNCH IN INDIA BY 2014

KTM,one of the famous Austrian motorcycle company, has recently acquired the brand Husqvarna from BMW Motorrad. It is now planning to launch their second bike Duke 390 in the next few months in India. KTM reported its best ever annual sales in 2012 with a total sale of more than107,000 units. The combination of KTM and Bajaj is getting better with the success of KTM Duke 200 which has already sold more than 8500 units. The next big launch after Duke 390 that KTM is planning is a toned-down version of superbike RC8. It is a 250cc racing replica of the RC8. KTM is also working on the tourer version of Duke 390. Bajaj is importing a few units of the RC8, only for displaying the bike at selected KTM outlets.

KTM RC8

The market of 200cc and above bikes are on peak these days and these bikes are performing well which is evident from the success of Duke 200. This section is mainly ruled by the Japanese bike makers and there are few other bikes like Honda CBR250R and Kawasaki Ninja 250R which has also shown outstanding performance.

KTM RC8

The current bike might be christened as KTM RC25 which will be manufactured at Chakan and will be sold in markets across the world. We are expecting KTM RC25 to feature a single cylinder 250cc engine, which is expected to churn a power output of around 30bhp and a torque output of about 25 Nm. If the bike satisfies our expectation, then it has to be the most powerful 250cc motorcycle in the country. KTM RC25 is expected at a price below the Duke 390. Bajaj-KTM combination is known for its competitive prices and so the price will be the biggest factor against the likes of Kawasaki Ninja, the Hyosung GT250R and the HondaCBR250R motorcycles.

LEARN TO SHIFT GEARS

Youll probably find that shifting a motorcycle is easier than it sounds. Once you get a feel for where and the how the clutch disengages, how much throttle is required for smooth acceleration, and how much effort the shifter needs, the whole process will become easier and require less concentration.

shifting gears

There are three basic controls to operate when it comes to shifting a motorcycle: the throttle, the clutch, and the gear selector. The throttle revs the engine, the clutch engages and disengages the transmission, and the gear selector selects the gear. Pull the clutch towards you using your left hand, and you can rev the engine without moving the bike forward. But release the clutch while the transmission is "in gear" (ie, not in neutral), and youll move the bike forward.

shifting a motorcycle

The gear pattern is selected by clicking a lever with your left foot, and is typically laid out as follows:
  • 6th gear (if applicable)
  • 5th gear (if applicable)
  • 4th gear
  • 3rd gear
  • 2nd gear
  • 1st gear
  • Neutral
Proper shifting technique requires the following maneuvers to be performed smoothly and deliberately:
  • Disengaging the clutch
  • Selecting the appropriate gear using the shift lever
  • Slightly revving the engine (twisting the throttle)
  • Gradually releasing the clutch (and not "popping" it suddenly)
  • Feathering the throttle while releasing the clutch, which will accelerate the bike.
  • Revving the engine for acceleration until another shift is needed

The mechanics of shifting a motorcycle is as easy as those six steps, but doing so smoothly requires practice. Know your controls inside and out, and get a feel for how they work. Practice riding in an environment like an abandoned parking lot, so you dont have to deal with traffic or other distractions. And most importantly, stay safe and aware during the learning process so youre able to focus all of your attention on the task at hand.

MotoGP Plan Ideas Back to the 1000cc Engine

Perhaps the existence of the MotoGP 800cc engine will not last long. The problem has now emerged about the idea of the FIM-level capacity to 1000cc.

800cc four-stroke era began since 2007 when the (International Motorcycle Federation) FIM 990cc lowering of standards that have been used since 2002.

But that era probably will not last long after the President of the FIM, Vito Ippolito stated his idea of an increase to 1000cc. Ippolito himself gave a discourse is not with any reason.

According to all the manufacturers who are in the highest class would agree with the idea that will make the competition due to more attractive. Ippolito also sure it will not appear in conflict with World Superbike event which was also one-liter engine, because each race has its own characteristics.

"Manufacturers want MotoGP 1000cc engine, so it is what it is. 800cc engine is not working because it has power roughly the same (to 990cc) but only increased the speed of turning," he said in Autosport Motosprint as preached.

800cc own the system often got complaints from the riders related to the amount of electronic equipment involved in it. Criticism of them came from Valentino Rossi who called the current MotoGP quite boring.
